My fair lady.

Went and saw Pygmalion a few weeks ago at the Sydney Theatre Company. The story on which My Fair Lady (With the lovely Audrey Hepburn) is made from. It was a simple production, a few stage props, a handful of actors but it was a joy to watch. A diversity of talented actors, entertaining dialogue and funny characters made you fall in love with the story and people. LOVED IT.

Spent the afternoon cleaning the house (well, I didn't do much), throwing away pointless items and making rooms look nice. It made me think of the type of house/decor I want (when I eventually get one!) Would die to have a view like the first photo. Paris, my dream. Overgrown Vines. Scattered photographs. Clean white walls. Spacious rooms.

SO excited to hear that Angus Stone (from Angus & Julia Stone) is releasing a solo album this year. I fell in love with him (and his voice of course) in his band album Lady of the Sunshine. If you love Indie/Rock music you must listen. So today as I scrolled through the many tweets on twitter to find Triple J announcing that he released a new song and it was FREE, I was too happy. Just finished watching "De Vrais Mesonges/Beautiful Lies with Audrey Tatou. I have recently have been watching heaps of subtitled french movies. Why? First of all I love everything about the french. I want to learn the language so I guess watching french films is a good start! Secondly, the films are so aesthetic (or maybe it's just the ones I have seen). Even if the storyline is mediocre, your eyes are content just watching the images. Everything from the pretty font titles/credits, to the vintage fashion, to the colouring of the film.

Prada Fashion Week Collection Ad

This video is for Prada and its collection for 2012. This is quite a great ad in terms of creativity. The use of layers, cut outs, overlapping and the transparency of images have been used to create a collage effect. Various camera angles and perspectives make it very intriguing to watch and the models seem to be made of paper and in a dollhouse. Have a look and tell me what you think x

Emma Stone at the 2012 National Board of Review Awards Gala.
I love this look. Elegant and sophisticated while being modern and edgy. The lovely J. Mendel cream dress goes perfectly with her hair colour and skin tone. Khaki Christian Louboutin peep-toes and the red touch on the lips bring the look together. She looks beautiful, doesn't she?

Papier Mache
I was browsing through magazines at the newsagent when I came upon this magazine. As soon as I saw the cover I knew I was going to love it. As I flipped the quality paper stock, the simplicity and cleanliness of the design engaged me. The romantic and dream like images filled with pretty boys and girls in tutus and suits were too adorable.

A day in the past.

I went to Brisbane over Christmas and while I was there one of the places I explored was a suburb called Paddington and its Antique Centre. What can I say about this place, it was vintage heaven. Racks of clothes from every era that you could try on and buy ($200 and over). I wanted to try every single one and sit on a upholstered armchair and sip tea with a gentleman, but no, this did not happen.

Recently saw the movie "Midnight in Paris" directed by Woody Allen. The story was about a man who romanticized about living in the 1920's and thought basically everything was better back in those times. In the end, the moral of the story was to live in the now instead of wishing that you were born in a different time.
I do agree with this, but a girl like me can't help wondering what it would have been like. Everything does seem so better back then! The fashion, the manners and the simplicity of life without technology and the like.
Anyway, if you ever want to enter a small fraction of the past, do go to Paddington Antique Centre in Brisbane. You'll never want to leave.
